A Total Solar Eclipse Gathering

Plan Your Trip

Getting There

Vinuesa, Soria — in the highlands of Castile and León, about 2.5 hours north of Madrid.

Getting There

The festival site sits on the shores of the Cuerda del Pozo reservoir, near the village of Vinuesa in the province of Soria. It's remote enough to feel like another world, but accessible enough that you can reach it from Madrid in under three hours by car.

Soria is the least populated province in Spain. The roads are quiet, the landscape is open, and the last stretch winds through pine and oak forests before the lake appears below. Getting here is part of the experience.

By Car

The Most Flexible Option

Most attendees will drive. From Madrid, take the A-2 motorway toward Zaragoza, then exit onto the N-234 toward Soria. From Soria, it's another 35 minutes north to Vinuesa on the SO-840.

Total drive from Madrid: approximately 2 hours 40 minutes (230 km). From Barcelona: approximately 5 hours 30 minutes (530 km). From Bilbao: approximately 3 hours 30 minutes (320 km).

The final approach follows a two-lane road through pine forests along the edge of the reservoir. Arrival and parking instructions will be sent to all ticket holders before the event.

If you're planning to rent a car, book early. The solar eclipse will draw visitors from across Europe, and rental availability near the eclipse path will tighten significantly as August approaches.

Bus & Train

Madrid → Soria → Vinuesa

The journey by public transport is a two-stage trip.

Madrid to Soria: ALSA operates regular buses from Avenida de América station (approximately 3 hours, departures every 4 hours). Renfe runs trains from Madrid Chamartín to Soria (approximately 3 hours, twice daily).

Soria to Vinuesa: Local bus service exists but is limited (once daily on weekdays).

We are planning official festival shuttle services from both Madrid-Barajas airport and Soria directly to the festival site. Details, schedules, and booking will be announced closer to the event. Sign up for updates to be notified when shuttle booking opens.

By Air

Nearest Airports

The closest major airport is Madrid-Barajas (MAD), with connections worldwide. From Madrid airport, you can rent a car or take a bus to Soria.

Other options: Zaragoza (ZAZ) — approximately 2.5 hours drive. Bilbao (BIO) — approximately 3.5 hours drive, a good option if combining with travel through northern Spain.

There is no airport in Soria itself. Renting a car at your arrival airport gives you the most flexibility for the week.
